Park Overview
A woods road in John E. Hand Park winds gracefully to the base of this Bald Mountain where a trail circles to the top, with limited views.
Trail Overview
Although Hand Park is riddled with mountain bike trails, it is easy walking along the yellow-blazed woods road. There are 1.6 miles of bike trails. The bike tracks widing up the northwest flank of Bald Mountain are not pleasant hiking and are not included in the total trail miles. The yellow trail and the Teatown-Kitchawan Trail are coaligned for the first 0.7 mile.
Park Description
No demon lives on Bald Mountain in John E. Hand Park. Unlike the frightful images conjured up for Mussorsky’s A Night on Bald Mountain in the 1940 Disney film Fantasia, all is serene here.
