Intro to Trail Maintenance - Trail U 617
This workshop is being held by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference at the NJ School of Conservation.
This one-day, outdoor training session covers an introduction to the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and provides the skills necessary to maintain a hiking trail so it is easily passable and harmonious with its surroundings.
Through field work, students will learn assessment of trail conditions, clearing, blazing proper use of tools and how to report any trail problems they may come across on their segment of trail. Students will spend the day working on the trails in Stokes State Forest.
Be prepared to spend the day on the Stokes trail system. Wear your hiking boots; pack plenty of water; bring work gloves; and bring a bag lunch.
No previous experience is necessary and all are welcome to attend to learn about the Trail Conference.
